For Your Body:      For Your Mind For Your Soul:

Diane’s Notes:

I Must look to a new format at this time for website feasibility. I hope you like it.

I am committed to knowledge re: wellness & health for informative decision making by everyone.

I can not stress hard enough the fact that a large number of us have chronic pain.

But you say;  “This has nothing to do with me”.   YES IT DOES!!!!!!  Everyone has discomfort.

CHRONIC PAIN is Mental, Physical or Spiritual (also can be one or more of these combined) discomfort that lingers on & on and you cannot deal with it by yourself.

Chronic pain that persists; can lead to the break down of other areas of our being; affecting our body, mind & soul. We begin to feel helpless, vulnerable, worthless, taken advantage of and even paranoid. We think nothing can bring us relief so we stop trying new and different approaches and start believing that we deserve what we have and revert to our inner self. We wallow in our pain. We hide in our pain. We believe no one can understand what we are going through. We have no hope. We are doomed. We become depressed and isolate ourselves from those who reach out to help and give us a hand. We also refuse help from professionals, thinking we will be a classified as a weakling if we cannot deal with this ourselves.

Chronic Pain can be dealt with.

GOD knows ALL THINGS. Trust in Him. Pray to Him. Ask for strength to endure His will in your life.

5 Steps to control Chronic Pain:

(1)     Relaxation & Meditation – Many people are able to induce a pain-relieving feeling with meditation, soothing thoughts, breathing techniques, music or aromatherapy. Classes are available locally to aid in these procedures and techniques.

(2)     Humor & Positive Thinking: Overpowering feelings of pain with uplifting mental attitude or humor. Comedy video’s, stories, books; TV shows or friendly gatherings are some examples.

(3)     Sleep & Exercise: Discomfort can affect your sleep. A well-rested body is stronger. Maybe you need a better  pillow, mattress or medication to relax your body to rest better. Specialized exercises can minimize sensitivity in certain musculoskeletal functions.

(4)     Diet & Nutrition: Certain foods and supplements can greatly affect how a person feels. A registered dietician and Wellness Centers can assist with this process.

(5)     Medication: Complete evaluation by a primary care physician along with a pharmacists and other consulters that specializes in chronic pain management can help us to get on a scheduled course of medications that can ease this pain.

Your decision for healing and your order of importance is up to you. Help is out there for the taking.

In closing, A story to ponder.  A house becomes a home when you can write “I Love You” on the furniture. How many hours do you spend cleaning? “In case some one stops over”; “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”  so you say. Let me ask you what is more important when you go to visit someone, looking their home over really well to see how clean everything is or enjoying their company and sharing parts of your lives about what each of you has been doing maybe even sharing an idea or a recipe.  Life is Short. Share and Enjoy it.

DUST if you must, but wouldn’t it be better, to paint a picture or write a letter, bake a cake or plant a seed, ponder the difference between want and need.

DUST if you must, but there’s not much time, with rivers to swim and mountains to climb, music to hear and books to read, friends to cherish and life to lead.

DUST if you must, but the worlds out there with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair, a flutter of snow, a shower of rain. This day will not come around again.

DUST if you must, but bear in mind, old age will come and its not kind. And when you go-and go you must-you, yourself, will make more dust!

Our website's (www.ovpn.org) current events section will give full details of upcoming programs as they become known to us, so please keep us informed of the programs your church or group has planned.

Thanks for taking the time to read this newsletter.
