For Your Mind

Holiday giving: The more you give, the richer the blessings.

Hospice angels are available at: Tri-State Christian Bookstores in Steubenville and Wellsburg, Pat's Hallmark in Elm Grove, Myers Drug Store in Glen Dale, and Belco Gift Shop at the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville.

The Lighthouse Safe Haven for Victims of Domestic Violence needs immediate assistance to supply their facility. Please call 304-797-7733 for needs and donations.

For Your Soul:

Men keep God's commandments either from fear of going to hell, in order to receive reward from God, or out of clean and unselfish love for God. In the first case they behave as slaves, in the second as servants, and in the third as sons. We must all aim for the last one. We must do the divine will out of pure love for God, as His sons. This is a sign of perfection. This is what the holy angels in heaven do. As long as man carries out his own will, he cannot find true inner peace. When he performs God's will, he is reconciled with God and finds peace. This is the peace from on high that we ask for in the Divine Liturgy. According to the Holy Fathers, God Himself is to be found in His commandments. For this reason, whoever keeps God's commandments unites with God.

Diane's Notes:

Cold weather tip: Maintain adequate heat in your home. Temperatures should be between 62-66 F. A cool room and warm feet and hands are the best way to get a good night's rest. So turn down the thermostat and put on your socks and mittens and get lots of ZZZZZZZZZZZZ's.

Our website's (www.ovpn.org) current events section will give full details of upcoming programs as they become known to us, so please keep us informed of the programs your church or group has planned.

Thanks for taking the time to read this newsletter.

God Bless You Richly,
