Matthew, 9:37 - Then saith he unto his Disciples, The Harvest Truly is Plenteous, But The Labourers Are Few.

Chit – Chatting  with  OVPN
Volume 4               Issue 4               April 2003

For Your Body:      For Your Mind For Your Soul:

Diane’s Notes:

Numbers 6: 24-26

“The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace”.

T'ai Chi - In 2000, researcher Catherine Hartman chose T’ai Chi for her hip-joint or knee problem exercise study because its slower, less intense exercises are more appealing to people with joint problems. This study examined T’ai Chi as a means of improving the condition of people suffering from joint discomfort. Another bonus was the adaptability of its movements to those with more extensive joint damage, even those dependent on walkers. By the end of the study, participants reported greater relief of their discomforts and improvements in their flexibility, balance, and ability to do general household tasks.

T’ai Chi - Used in China for more than 1,000 years, T’ai Chi is a mind/body discipline
whose ancient philosophy and dance-like movements are thought to help one toward not only physical health but also inner peace. Catherine Hartman participants also reported a decrease in their stress level. T’ai Chi develops focused and quiet non-aggressive strength and power.

Allergy Defense, Facts from Kroger’s Pharmacies:

Avoid going outdoors at peak pollen times-between 5:00am and 10:00am.  After being outdoors, change your clothes. Avoid changing cloths around carpeting and/or linens where pollen can cling. Shower and wash your hair each night-pollen can remain on your skin and in your hair.    Whether indoors or in your car, use your air conditioner. Change indoor filters often.

FOCUS on HEALTH:  COLON CANCER – 130,000 Americans are diagnosed each year. Yearly screening starting at age 50 is advised. Don’t wait – get tested annually.

The Hope Heart Institute says; for some one who already has heart disease, severe air pollution could trigger a heart attack, or in someone who has asthma, it could trigger a fatal asthma attack. Air Quality Index’s should be of interest to everyone. GREEN=GOOD; YELLOW=MODERATE; ORANGE=UNHEALTHY FOR SENSATIVE PEOPLE; RED=UNHEALTHY; PURPLE=VERY UNHEALTHY.

Dangerous Diabetes: The Trinity Community Health report says many people don’t realize how dangerous diabetes can be. It’s possible complications range from blindness to kidney failure. To make matters worse, half of the 16 million Americans don’t know they have it. Working closely with a physician to control weight, and more importantly, blood-glucose (sugar) levels can lower the risks greatly. Exercise is another important weapon against diabetes. A simple fasting blood test can let you know if you are a victim.

The Hope Heart Institute says; Great Managers:  1. Are positive - Visualizing success for themselves and their employees.  2. Encourage others by helping employees live up to their potential and respect the contribution each has to offer.  3. Have consistently high expectations for employees.  4. Think BIG as they seek out projects that will excite and motivate people. 5. Uses a lot of polite phrases like “please” and “thank you”.

Flying the American Flag

  • The flag is never allowed to touch the ground or the floor.
  • The flag should be displayed at half-staff until noon on Memorial Day then raised to the top of the staff.
  • The flag is never flown in inclement weather except when using an all-weather flag.
  • The flag can be flown every day from sunrise to sunset and at night if illuminated properly.
  • The flag should be hoisted briskly and lowered ceremoniously.
  • The flag should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds but always allowed to fall free.
  • When vertically hung over the center of the street, the flag always has the union stars to the north in an east/west street, and to the east in a north/south street.

NEVER fly the flag upside down except as a signal of distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

Life is precious – No matter the age – Let EVERY second count when you get a chance to spend time with those you LOVE the most. Thank GOD for all the blessings you have, every breath you take proves GOD loves you and is just waiting to hear from YOU.

Our website's (www.ovpn.org) current events section will give full details of upcoming programs as they become known to us, so please keep us informed of the programs your church or group has planned.
